Post-and-beam structures: Greek Columns

We talked about Classical Greek civilization, Greek temples and deities, and of course the three Greek orders of architecture. Then we went on a hunt for Greek columns in our area. We found examples of all three orders (as well as more modern variations) and took lots of pictures for our Everyday Architecture book.

We also watched this fascinating movie about the Parthenon. We loved it.

It was such a beautiful Fall day when we went on our column hunt, I couldn't resist taking pictures of some of the pretty trees we saw.
And to mark the occasion appropriately, when we were done, we got lunch at our favorite Greek restaurant in Salt Lake and had a picnic! Yum!
